This is a wonderfully comprehensive and educational report on the 'agua situation' in Pancho Mateo. I loved every little detail -- and the photos are great!! Thank you so much for helping the HHI community with this important (and hopefully life-saving) research.

Heidi, you did such a fantastic job on this water research project! This blog post is wonderful - but it doesn't do justice to how you pounded the muddy streets all around Pancho Mateo - rain or shine, got to know and be loved by so many people in both Pancho Mateo and Arroyo de Leche, followed Department of Health and Water/Sanitation leaders up water towers at water treatment plants, and down long roads to see "wells" no one else at HHI or in the communiteis knew about. Nor does it show how you rented a car and drove yourself all over this part of the D.R. to find out "where do these rivers and that water that comes to Pancho Mateo really come from?" Or how you introduced leaders of various community groups to each other and encouraged them to work together, and gave tips on community organizing. Thanks so much for all of your hard work in helping to get the movement to get clean water in HHI's partner communities off on proper footing. You have truly empowered the residents of Pancho Mateo to join together to advocate for better water!

Sarah, thanks for such a descriptive and vivid blog post. I certainly spent my share of time eating in the DR, but I never considered all the meanings of food so deeply. Thanks for making my understanding of Dominican society and HHI's work even clearer!
